About the Library
The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of 51²Ö¿â. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of 51²Ö¿â and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami.
The extensive Library research collections include more than 169,000 physical items, and over 600,000 electronic resources, including ebooks, streaming media, and electronic journals.
The collection is balanced to meet the research needs of the wide variety of undergraduate through doctoral programs offered at 51²Ö¿â. The collection of Roman Catholic research materials is especially significant and is one of the largest collections of its kind in the area.
While 51²Ö¿â is a private institution and access to the Library Collections is primarily restricted to 51²Ö¿â students, faculty, staff, and alumni, the library supports the research needs of residents of the Village of Miami Shores, and academic researchers from around the world.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library, within the Division of Academic Affairs, is to serve 51²Ö¿â students, faculty, staff, and community by providing exceptional patron services, information literacy instruction, and innovative information resources to support teaching, learning and research. As a center for scholarly inquiry, the Library supports 51²Ö¿â’s mission and Catholic, Adrian Dominican traditions. The Library’s archival, instructional, public, reference, and technical services, as well as the Library’s comprehensive physical and electronic collections, are dedicated to advancing knowledge and truth, inclusive community, social justice, and collaborative service.
