The training was conducted by , a South Florida non-profit organization that provides community education and services to vulnerable members of the LGBTQ+ community.  Safe Zone is a campus-wide program that offers a visible message of inclusion, affirmation, and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people in the college community.Ìý
 Safe Zone Allies are faculty, staff, and students who have completed the Safe Zone Ally Training, who consider themselves to be open and knowledgeable about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues (LGBTQ+), and who choose to provide support for those who are LGBTQ+. Safe Zone Allies identify themselves by placing the Safe Zone sticker on their office door in their workspace. Ìý
 The 3-hour training provides participants with a more inclusive perspective of the entire LGBTQQAAAIP2S community, and then gets more in-depth with understanding transgender individuals. Participants learn about the gender spectrum, gender identity, and the history and life experiences of transgender individuals. They will also learn how to serve the population more effectively by understanding the transgender community. The session provides participants the skills on how to better relate to LGBTQ+ students and community.
